Entangled

Wasted breath traced the lining of my skin
Fumes laced with your touch
Along the surface of my latest dilemma
I repent the way your name rolls off my tongue
Like an unnatural poison
You’re not going to find anything Holy here
My senses identify when you’re near
Ears pricking while hairs stand
The air caught in my chest,
Boots tap against the quiet asphalt
Darkness shrouds your silhouette,
A lit cigarette rests between your fingers
The ash blowing in the wind toward my direction
Tethering us together, my will always bent
Danger illuminates the sky around me
But I stopped following the Light a long time ago
